Carmen Sandiego

I enjoyed getting the facts to put on the slide. I found it hard to find out how I should set it up. I found it easy to get the facts for the Spys code of ethics because I took a photo of it and then made it into my own.

The Defenders

In reading for Ghost we were making a team flag for the track team.Ghost is a book that our teacher reads to us after lunchtime. I found it hard to get a good image of something that's related to running. I found it easy to make the background of the flag.

Louis from Come Down Golden.

In class for reading my group was reading Come Down Golden. First we read to chapter 2 then we made Louis, a character in the book. Then we read to chapter 4. I found it hard to make Louis because I really didn't know what pieces to use. I found it easy to make the wheel chair because I used random pieces to make a 3-D chair so I used shapes that were on an angel.

Tom Trueheart

In class for writing we were writing a story about Tom Trueheart. Our class watched a little clip of it  and we had to finish off the story I found it hard to brainstorm. I found it easy to write it.

Snowflakes fluttered. Freezing cold wind wrapped around Tom Trueheart as he trudged towards the Wizard's castle. His black hair turned frosty as the snow was falling. But that won't stop him. He has a magical sword Excalibur. When he stabs you you will turn into golden dust but there is only one problem he is the size of a thumb.

 He got to Voldemort's castle and he heard noises from under the Wizard´s castle. He knew the people screaming were his six brothers and their Brides. He snuck under the door climbed behind a pot.

 When the wizard fell asleep Tom stole the keys, ran to the dungeon, unlocked the cage. They sneaked out of the castle. Tom stole the wizards magical spellbook cut it in half and then turned back into a normal size. Voldemort without his spellbook will turn weak.

10 Doors

We had a relever mrs steel and we got to make a 10 doors so there are 10 slides after the 10 doors picture and each door you click one there's something behind it can you find your way out of there. I based mine on avengers but there are 2 different ones.

in class this week we were learning what to do when you get cyber bullied.

Smart media

In class for cybersmart we were learning how to verify online information and analyse the construction of digital media. I found it hard to get a  perfect picture from remove background then I discovered that you can remove bits that you don't want and add bits of the picture that you want back. I found it easy to get a labeled for reuse picture of a goal keeper diving and a soccer goal.

In class we were learning what media is. To do this we used the camera to take a photo then we used remove background to remove the background then we added a picture. I found it hard to remove the things behind me and add my body back with remove background

Recount Writing

Our learning intention this week was to paint a picture in the reader's mind by describing.
Freezing cold morning, shivering like an iceberg. 3, 2, 1 the sun started rising then we started our match. One minute 1-0 two minutes 2-1 in the first three minutes it was 3-2. Here he comes! Sprinting down the line trying to get him fall over the ball, I stabbed my foot in front of the ball so he fell over. Didn't ́work. I kicked it out. Finally it was half time. I had a rest. I asked my friend what the score was in his game. He said it was 2-1 then I replied our score was 5-4. Our second match. He took a shot. Luca dived and pushed it out then it was a corner kick. He smashed the ball. It started curving. Kayden ran to the front post. Kayden thought it was the other teams goal so he headed it. Luca dived to save it then he got there too late. The ball got in the back of the net. It was an own goal but still a goal. 6, 5, 4 the sun started going down.

2nd Reps game

Full speed ahead! We raced past lots of gas stations. Across the road on one of them it said no bum stairs here. Then me and george started laughing ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. We arrived at Palmy. Match 1 we weren't that ready so the final score was 3-0 to them. Our second match we played much better against Hawkes Bay than last time, last time the score was 7-4 this time it was 1-0 to them. Our team coaches, my dad and my friends dad Ander and David exclaimed we played much better. Our second match. Smash! 1-0 no goal screamed the ref. Our whole team was screaming to him that it wasn't an offside then he he said he would give our whole team including our coaches a yellow card. Kayden shot, the keeper pushed it away, George shot he hit the post then Jay shot and it zoomed out. He gave the other team like 10 free kicks. We were frustrated with the ref. Then we had that ref again in the next game but he was better. I had the ball then someone came and slide tackled me, we got a free kick, Kobe took the free kick. The other team got the ball, we got it off them. Kayden got the ball,  he shot and he scored! 1-0. Kayden shot again and the keeper pushed it away then Tavonga shot, it came off one of the other players and scored 2-0 Kayden got the ball. He shot it was speeding into the top corner and scored! 3-0. Then I asked him, are you going for a hat trick? It was the end we were all celebrating then we had a team photo 4 of the people were lying down in the front then I zoomed in front of everyone in the photo there were so many cameras (phone cameras) we didn't know which one to look at.                                             Here is the photo.

2019 Speeches

This week we presented our speeches in class. I felt so nervous that I was shaking throughout my whole speech. In our speeches we have to include our pepeha we could either do it in mandarin Maori or the language we speak in at home for our pepeha but we could not do it in English. For our speech we had to have a clear voice, stand still, speak loudly, go at our own pace, look up at the crowd and make eye contact, have expresion and be confident. Our speeches need to include a rhetorical question and be persuasive. My speech was about caged chickens. You can check it out on one of my older posts here 

Mascot

In class for cybersmart we are doing vector drawings. We have to do at least to vector drawings and one original photo. Our class is doing rugby world cup countries. the three things we have to do is the traditional flower the flag and the traditional animal. me and my cousin are doing Argentina. We weren't aloud to talk to each other so we have to use comments. this is our google drawing

Sploosh

We were learning to persuade people by using advertisements. I enjoyed making  the colours using gradient fill. I found it hard to find images of sploosh.

Math quiz

We were learning to link slides to slides. I enjoyed making the backgrounds using gradient fill. 

Amazon Rainforest Wildfires

We were learning about the wildfires in the Amazon Rainforest.
I found it hard to get a background of trees from the Amazon Rainforest. I enjoyed getting interesting facts about the Amazon rainforest.
 

Caged chickens should be banned

We are learning to structure. We were aiming to use a title that tells the reader what the issue being argued is, use a rhetorical question, write an introduction that includes the three main points, organize ideas into paragraphs, make sure each paragraph has one main point and two examples, write a conclusion that includes my three main points, edit for spelling and punctuation and present my work to a peer for assessment. I found it easy to find facts because the facts were on our class site. I found it hard to put all the different ideas into paragraphs.

How would you feel to be a caged chicken? I firmly believe that caged chickens should be banned! They get diseases, theyŕe squashed and they can act natural.

My first main point is they are squished. 82% of chickens are caged. Each hen has space the same size as one A4 piece of paper each. 45 thousand chickens are caged in one shed.

My second main point is that the chickens can't act natural. They can't scratch for food. They can't perch and they can't build nests. They peck each other and eat each other. When they're squashed it's harder for them to lay eggs and when they stop laying eggs they kill them.

My third main reason is they get diseases in cages. They get fatty liver disease. They'll get osteoporosis. They're not outside in the light so they get rickets from lack of vitamin D.

You should let your chickens should be free range. The three main reasons is they can't move, they can't act natural and they get diseases.

Tom Fedro

Last week for art we were doing Tom Fedro art.
Our learning intention was to use both sides of the paint brush, bright colours, bold lines and Tints and shades to show light direction.
I found it easy to go over the pencil lines in black. I found it hard to mix the colours to get the right colour. I enjoyed doing the white with a small paint brush.
Tom Fedro was born in Arlington Heights. This is my art.

Mary MacKillop

 Today is Mary MacKillop's feast day. Our whole school went to church to celebrate the feast day of

Mary Mackillop.

 Who is Mary Mackillop ?

 Mary MacKillop is the oldest sister out of her 8 sisters. She was born in Melbourne on 15 January 1842. She died on the 8th of August 1909 in North Sydney. Her full name is Mary Helen MacKillop

 What did Mary Mackillop do ?

 She was declared to be Australia's first saint on 17 october 2010 by Pope Benedict XVI. She was a wonderful woman who gave her life to God and people in need.

 How did she become a saint ?

In June 1995 MacKillop was beatified by Pope John II. In February 2010, an Australian woman  said that her cancer had disappeared after she prayed to Mary Mackillop. Pope Benedict XVI recognized Mary MacKillop as a saint. She was canonized that October.

 

Removing Background

In class we were learning about how to use remove background for our action selfie. I found it difficult to get the whole picture of me doing a goalkeeper pose in the slide. So I replaced my arms
with shapes. I found it easy to get a background of a soccer goal, and a picture of a soccer ball.

Bees

In class we are learning about Bees. I enjoyed learning interesting facts about bees but I found it hard to get facts that I didn't already know.

Winter

We are learning to use describing words to paint a picture in the readers mind. I found it easy writing adjectives from my brainstorm. I found it tricky to put my brainstorm into sentences.

Outside, frosty grass was like freezing cold icebergs. 
Crunchy, branches, stiff and wavy, stayed still. 
Silent clouds, still and calm, slowly drifted away.

Birthday Party

On the 20 of July, I was invited to a birthday party. It was my friend Corin who invited me. First we played on his PS4 and we played a fun racing game called crash team racing. Later on, Corins and my sister hung up donuts on their washing line and then we ate them only using our mouths. It was funny as a fight because the donuts fell on the ground when there was only a little bit left.

Next, we got a straw and a bowl of skittles and we had to suck up the skittles with the straw and put it into the bowl. Once we had five skittles in the bowl we had to stop and eat them.

After that, we played fifa 19 on Corin´s PS4. Then we watched Avengers Civil war. My favourite character is Thor. I like Thor because he is as tough as one of Adriannas cookies!!! Later, we played spotlight from about 10 - 11pm.

We all slept in the lounge, on mattresses and couches. At night we talked for like an hour. We didn't get much sleep but we had lots of fun. So, I slept like a log last night.

Science Fair

Billy,Willie,Cole and myself did the science fair together as a group. Our group is called Flying Rockets. I hope you enjoy our slide show.

Breakfast Buddies

On Wednesday 26 of June I did Breakfast Buddies with my friend Billy. Bevan the person who says the things on the radio is the person who runs Breakfast Buddies. Bevan took this photo of Billy and me at Breakfast Buddies holding Billy's ball. We said what the weather was going to be on Sunday and Saturday on the radio and he asked us why St Mary's is the coolest school. We said because of the fields and the layout of the classrooms. The radio station is called Media Works.

Gummy Worms

We were writing about chemical reactions in class. The hard bit was writing the explanation.

Have you ever wondered how to make a polymer? A polymer is hundreds of molecules. first put water with calcium chloride. Then you put it into a bowl of sodium alginate squeeze the Pipette then let it go so that the the calcium chloride solution goes up the pipette. Then put it in a bowl of the activator then you put the sodium alginate in The activator. It's a chemical reaction the sodium alginate transforms into gel like worms it is irreversible And that's how you'll get your gummy worms. This is a chemical reaction.

Hi, my name is Johnny. I am a Year 5 at St Mary’s. My sister and my dad are Spanish and me and my mum are English.

My favourite subjects at St Mary's are P.E. and math. I am really good at math and I can run really fast and I'm really good at soccer - that's how I got into the St Mary's A1 team, St Mary's strikers. My goals this year is to get better at writing and reading.

This year I'm looking forward to the Science Fair because I really want to see what place I come and I really want to do some experiments I am also really looking forward to athletics because I am really good at high jump, long jump and sprint. I really like Aduriz - he is a player in Athletic club and that's the team that me and my dad really like in soccer.
